Photos from Our Honeymoon in Thailand

Between August and September, I had the chance to travel to Thailand on honeymoon with my wife. It is not considered the best time of year to visit, as it is monsoon season and it tends to rain most afternoons, but that does not take away from the experience or the beauty of the country.

I did not take photographs only with my DSLR. We both took plenty of pictures with our phones, and I used the DSLR mainly for the images I considered more worthwhile from a photographic point of view. In the photo above, you can see us taking a selfie.

We visited Bangkok in central Thailand, Chiang Mai in the north and Ko Pha Ngan in the south.

They are three completely different areas. Bangkok is a very vertical city, full of skyscrapers, where the higher you go, the more affluent the surroundings tend to become. At street level, you can also see some of the city’s greatest contrasts and poverty.

In the north, Chiang Mai is a city full of temples, but it also offers many opportunities to explore natural areas nearby. Renting a motorbike is a great way to get around and is very affordable. It opens up many possibilities for discovering places outside the city.

In the south, the atmosphere is much more focused on beaches and the sea, with resorts and some beautiful natural landscapes.

We organised the entire trip ourselves and came back very happy with the experience, all at a reasonable cost. I am not trying to write a travel guide here — I am a photographer — so I will simply leave you with a small selection of photographs from the trip:
