Photo Sessions in the Dominican Republic
During December 2014, I had the opportunity to travel to the Dominican Republic. December is already outside the main hurricane season, so the weather was fantastic for photography, with some incredible skies.
The photographs were taken in several locations: at a hotel, in Punta Cana and on Saona Island.
The Dominican Republic is a true natural paradise in the middle of the Caribbean Sea. It has hundreds of kilometres of white sandy beaches, surrounded by warm turquoise waters and coral reefs.
The colours of the sea are incredible: turquoise and green tones contrasting with the white sand create a spectacular combination. Lighting needs particular attention in this kind of location. Because the sand is so white, it is very easy to overexpose it with flash, producing an effect that I personally do not like.
The model in these photographs is Anita, a fantastic model I have worked with on many demonstration shoots and personal projects that I am able to share publicly. Unfortunately, a large part of my work consists of private portfolio sessions and commissioned shoots that I cannot freely publish.
Many of the beach photographs were taken on Saona Island, a genuine natural paradise where I also took the opportunity to photograph some landscapes.

Getting a photograph like this without people in the frame is not as easy as it might seem. This part of the beach is extremely popular with tourists, so I was lucky — and perhaps a little strategic — to be one of the last people to board the catamaran for the return journey.
I would also like to thank the Punta Cana agency Weiler, who helped us with many aspects of the trip and gave us great support. The agency is run by a group of Spaniards doing an excellent job.
We even had the opportunity to use a catamaran for some of the photographs, which was an incredible experience.
Here is a selection of photographs taken in paradise:
