Post-Wedding Shoot at Loarre

Post-Wedding Shoot at Loarre Castle in the Snow

In the middle of February, with temperatures around -1°C and wind gusts of up to 70 km/h, the couple and I set out to do a post-wedding photo shoot at Loarre Castle.

Although the photographs make it look like we had a beautiful day with clear blue skies, the truth is that it was one of the coldest wedding shoots I have ever done.

We started outside the castle, where there was still some snow left from the previous days. By the time we reached the castle entrance, I could barely feel my fingers after handling the photographic equipment, which is mostly metal, even though I was wearing gloves. In winter I usually use a pair of thin gloves that keep out some of the cold while still allowing me to feel the camera controls.

Needless to say, the bride also had a difficult time with the cold, especially inside the castle, surprisingly enough.

In the photograph, you can see the couple and me inside the church at Loarre Castle during the shoot. It was extremely cold and damp inside, so even without the wind, the temperature felt very low.

Our noses were definitely a little red…

On the positive side, the February light and the perfectly clear sky gave us the beautiful colours I like so much. Once we were back in the warm car, it was easy to feel satisfied with the session and head home happy with the result.

We finished at the castle at around 1:30 in the afternoon and decided it was time to go home and warm up. We already had a fantastic collection of photographs, so the next step was to start putting together the complete wedding album.

As always, below you can see a small selection from the 131 photographs I delivered to the couple that same afternoon through their private wedding gallery.
